Gold Star Feature: Joey Adams from The Washington School for Girls
As part of THEARC’s 20th-anniversary celebration, we’re spotlighting alumni from our partner organizations who have gone on to do incredible things.
Joey Adams’s journey with the Washington School for Girls (WSG) began in 2007, when she transitioned from DC Public Schools. What could have been a challenging shift proved smooth—both socially and academically—thanks to the strong sense of community and support she found at WSG.
“I cherished my time at WSG,” Joey reflects. “I engaged with so many community partners—Boys and Girls Club, GW ArtReach, Levine School of Music, and The Washington Ballet—all of which helped shape who I am today.”
Those early experiences laid the foundation for the values Joey still carries: community, public speaking, and organization. Even now, she swears by the WSG-issued planner, using it more than any digital tool.
Today, Joey serves as WSG’s Manager of Graduate Support, working closely with 7th and 8th grade families to help them transition into high school.
“It’s been a blessing to witness the school’s evolution while remaining true to the core values that shaped my journey,” she says.
Her story is a powerful full-circle moment—proof of how strong roots and a supportive community can inspire the next generation.
