Bridging a City Through Art

11th Street Bridge Park

For the third year in a row, we are collaborating with the talented young artists at Cesar Chavez Charter School for Public Policy located just up the street from the future 11th Street Bridge Park in Capitol Hill. Over the course of this academic year, they are creating prototype public art for our new civic space. See below for early models of their work. This spring they will build full scale versions that illustrate the Bridge Park’s four key goals: improve public health; re-engage residents with the Anacostia River; connect long divided communities; and become an anchor for equitable and inclusive development. We are blown away by their imagination, creativity and skill. We thank the incredible art teacher Jennifer Sonkin for leading this work!
