THEARC Theater is the first theater in Washington, DC’s Ward 8 and still the largest Theater East of the Anacostia River. It was created to provide entertaining and enlightening experiences that impact lives and brighten futures.

A large auditorium with rows of seats, located in Building Bridges Across The River: Multidisciplinary Arts & Culture Spaces.

Rental of the 365-seat venue includes the lobby area, theater, scenic shop, green room w/ dressing room , and two (2) large dressing rooms (2nd floor).

Features: Follow spot, Venue SC48 Digital Audio Console, CLEARCOMM Communication System, Orchestra Pit, Full Set Stage Blacks, ETC ION Digital Lighting Console, fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Rental of the configurable venue includes the lobby area, box office, and dressing rooms. THEARC Black Box is home to our Frederick Douglass Animatron available for live presentations.

THEARC Theater and Black Box is a multidisciplinary venue space with subsidized rental rates to ensure community members have access to amazing creative arts spaces in their neighborhood.

THEARC Founders were inspired to create a venue space in S.E. DC to ensure the non-profit partners at THEARC always had a home venue to perform. THEARC Theater is the 2nd project of Building Bridges Across the River.
