Help us build a new garden!
At 12:30, the festival will begin, including:
We’ll be constructing the frames for 16 large garden beds, filling them with compost and planting with seedlings. We need help!
Washington View Apartments is owned by National Housing Trust and located in Ward 8, which suffers from food apartheid. Our ward has only one full-service grocery store and few other sources of fresh produce. In addition to building this garden, Capital Area Food Bank and FreshFarm will be filling a food pantry in this apartment complex to bring a constant supply of healthy food to Washington View residents. We’re partnering with Black Nurses Rock and the American Diabetes Association, which are bringing health programing to residents, and So What Else, which provides after school activities and summer camp for kids.
This event celebrates the beginning of a wonderful new partnership for place-based programming.
