Bridge Park in the Washington Post Magazine
The 11th Street Bridge Park aims to become an anchor for inclusive economic development and stitch together long divided neighborhoods in D.C. An article slated for this Sunday’s Washington Post Magazine cover describes the recent work of our Equitable Development Task Force and our efforts to ensure the thousands of residents who have helped shape this project can continuously benefit from it.
“The goal is much larger than adding a civic space. The 11th Street Bridge Park seeks to connect communities on each side of a river that has always represented a stark economic gap between the haves and have-nots, perhaps now more than ever.” – The Washington Post
Over the last year we’ve been working with the community to develop 19 recommendations in three categories: workforce development; small business enterprises; and housing. We’ve started implementing these recommendations by partnering with Manna Housing on a Ward 8 Home Buyers Club that kicks off next month and more is to come!
Bridge Park has been shaped by thousands of nearby residents and we are continuing to build this project with our community. Give us your feedback on the plan or tell us why you are excited about Bridge Park and its unique community-led approach by commenting on the Washington Post article, on our social media or writing to us at info@bridgepark.org.
